ACOG SIGHT

The ACOG Sight (Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight) is a reflex opticmanufactured by Trijicon in Wixom, Michigan with magnification of 1.5x to 6x, designed mainly for use with the M16 and M4 firearms.

The ACOG sight features internally-adjustable, compact telescopic sights with tritium illuminated reticle patterns for use in low light or at night. The concept is simple; a durable scope with a reticle that illuminates in low light situations. Every feature of its mechanical and optical design was chosen for a single purpose, to provide increased hit potential and accuracy in all lighting conditions. The best part of ACOG sight is that it does not require any batteries so it is not prone to battery failure. Over 25 years later, the original ACOG stands the test of time and remains one of our most popular reliable items.

The ACOG sight combines traditional, precise distance marksmanship with close-in aiming speed. Although the ACOG sight have many features which are very advantageous for military use, they were developed by Trijicon without government funding.

During the World War II, the German sharpshooters had an edge in the trenches as they were equipped with optically sighted rifles leading to a magnified and improved sight picture in good light. The same case applies for the Korean War as well as Vietnam. Over the years, specialized optical sights were developed and issued to snipers  which has become a standard on many of the worlds combat rifles. Austria, England and Canada are just some of the countries whose standard issue combat rifle is topped with an optical sight.

Among a selection of different scopes, ACOG sight was chosen by the U.S. Special Operations and are current military issue being used in combat in Afghanistan.

ACOG sight provides following benefits:

1.  It has faster zoom capability comparing to a regular sniper scope
2.  It makes it easier to use a sniper rifle in mid-range combat.
3.  It made it much easier to get off a quick, accurate shot at extended range, and also very quick up close with the bright red four-minute dot.

5.  It gives the user good peripheral vision outside the scope when zooming is used within the scope at the same time. This makes it much easier to track targets that are moving at long distances.COG scope does not require any battery power and pretty much maintenance free.
6.   It is a lifesaver in low light situations and offers much greater hit probability for most shooters.

For outdoor hunting, ACOG sight is perfect for replacing a hunting type scope as it vastly improves its accuracy, making the target much easier to hit under ideal conditions.
